This position will be responsible for assisting in research, design, engineering, integration, and fabrication of various projects within the SGAMF. Primary focus will be electronic enclosures, networking, satellite communications, and aircraft integration. However, this position is expected to be highly flexible and an expansion of skill set will be expected. This individual will be self-sufficient, and work on multiple tasks related to multiple programs throughout a typical workday.
SCOPE: This is a primary engineering technology position bridging development and production. The NPD Technician will work very closely with designers, other technicians, program managers, and customer engineering representatives to integrate, fabricate, and deliver to the customer’s NPD requirements. The technician will need to understand wiring principles, electronics, electronic structures/enclosures, circuit design, programming, a wide range of connector types, and basic networking principles.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
A minimum of an associate degree in an acceptable electronic engineering or computer science discipline – must have solid basic electronics skills
A minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic new product development
Knowledge of various connectors, such as MIL-DTL-5015, MIL-DLT-38999, ARINC, Quadrax, and other specialty plugs
Expected to research solutions to accommodate evolving mission sets
Understanding of networking principles to include switching, routing, and security
Past exposure to RF and data links a plus
Understanding of power principles especially related to small electronic enclosures
Ability to build engineering tasks related to program schedules in support of program manager requirements
Ability to assist with engineering tasks to include bill of materials, labor expectations, and time to delivery
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and modeling information
Basic computer skills and advanced word and presentation processing skills utilizing Visio, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to learn other software related to the position
Printed circuit design experience including electronic prototype design, schematic design, generating Gerber files, and related electronic product development. SelectTech utilizes Eagle for development.
Microprocessor design integration including FPGA and integration skills including software, firmware that may include PIC, Basic Pro, C++, machine language, etc.
