Job Description
The primary focus of this position will be assisting in sUAS research, design, engineering, integration, and fabrication of various small, unmanned aircraft system projects within the SGAMF. From time to time, this position may also assist with electronic enclosure building, and aircraft integration.  This position is expected to be highly flexible and an expansion of skill set will be expected.  This individual will be self-sufficient, and work on multiple tasks related to multiple programs throughout a typical workday.

SCOPE: This is a primary engineering technology position bridging product development and production. The sUAS technician will work very closely with related technicians, program managers, and customer engineering representatives to integrate, fabricate, and deliver to our customer’s UAS requirements. The UAS technician will need to understand UAS wiring principles, electronics, electronic structures/enclosures, autopilot programming, and calibration, a wide range of connector types, and basic electronic principles.

QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
 
  • Minimum AS degree preferably in UAS or related technical field, or demonstratable equivalent experience in UAS technology
  • Working knowledge of the Pixhawk/Ardupilot flight control environment
  • Has a current FAA part 107 or working toward a 107 license/certification?
  • RC flying experience – VTOL a must, fixed wing a plus
  • Has built sUAS and/or RC models (fixed wing and VTOL)
  • Understands programming and calibrating sUAS autopilots
  • Understands motor/propeller/electronic speed control relationship
  • Expected to research solutions to accommodate evolving mission sets
  • Ability to assist with engineering tasks to include bill of materials, labor expectations, and time to delivery
  • Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and modeling information
  • Basic computer skills and advanced word and presentation processing skills utilizing Visio, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and ability to learn other software related to the position
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Military veteran a plus
  • Can qualify for a secret clearance if necessary
