This position will be responsible for supporting research, design, engineering, integration, and fabrication of various projects within the SGAMF. Primary focus will be on electronic enclosures, networking, and aircraft integration. However, this position is highly flexible, and expansion of skill sets will be expected. Successful candidates will be motivated, self-sufficient, and work on multiple tasks related to various programs throughout a typical workday.
SCOPE: This is a primary engineering technology position bridging development and production. The NPD Technician will work very closely with designers, technicians, program managers, and customer engineering representatives to integrate, fabricate, and deliver to the customer’s NPD requirements. The technician will need to understand wiring principles, electronics, electronic structures/enclosures, circuit design, programming, wide range of connector types, basic networking principles, and radio frequency (RF) theory or have had experience with RF and/or data links.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
A minimum of an associate degree or equivalent experience in acceptable electronic engineering or computer science disciplines.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic new product development.
Printed circuit design experience including electronic prototype design, schematic design, generating Gerber files, and related electronic product development.
Knowledge of various military and/or aircraft connectors is desired.
Understanding of satellite, communications, and data links a plus.
Understanding of networking principles to include network switching and routing.
Experience with RF, VSWR / Velocity Factor/Impedance, and related electronic variables.
Understanding of power principles; especially relating to small electronic system design.
Ability to build engineering tasks related to program schedules in support of program manager requirements.
Ability to expand upon engineering tasks to include bill of materials (BOM), labor expectations, and time to delivery (project documentation).
Experienced with mechanical and electronic design and build skills that result in functioning prototypical products.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and understand schematics, drawings, and modeling information.
Familiarity with testing including MIL-STD-461, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, etc. type product environmental testing.
