Job Description

This position manages all supply chain functions, which may include, but are not limited to, material procurement, vendor selection, and distribution. This position primary responsible is purchasing components and all related packaging materials in direct support of contracts. Operational priorities will be safety, quality, delivery, and cost.  


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Reports to the Senior Operations Manager on a regular basis to establish short/long-range purchasing goals, cost reduction and expansion plans.
  • Works closely with the Project Managers, engineering, and manufacturing teams.
  • Preparing items and documentation for customer shipments.
  • Leads all purchasing activities to ensure that they are on time and within budgetary control.
  • Manages the scheduling of deliveries to prevent excess stock or backorders.
  • Promotes alignment of customer needs with material requirements throughout the organization.
  • Works closely with the Quality Manager on the vendor qualification process, corrective action on vendor quality issues and participates in supplier rating reviews.
  • Responsible initiation of purchase order and material requisitions.
  • Leads activities with outside suppliers for procurement, scheduling, quality and shipping.
  • Works with engineering to “early-source” components for new products and design updates.
  • Works with Senior Operations Manager to manage proper inventory levels – proactively.
  • Monitors the shelf-life critical materials and controls their distribution.
QUALIFICATIONS:  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
  • High School Diploma. Associates Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in purchasing and shipping.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong mechanical and electronics acumen
  • Understands the flow and management of custom manufactured parts and assemblies.
  • Demonstrated experience with a modern MRP system.
  • Background Experience in cutting costs while maintaining a strong primary and secondary sourcing base.
  • Good understanding of planning and scheduling.
  • Ability to read and understand all work instructions and safety information.
  • Demonstrated skills and proactive actions in previous assignments, team building skills, strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.

Optional Qualifications:
  • Involvement with ISO9001/AS9100 certified operations and audits
