Job Description
Mixed Trades Helper (Engineering Technician II) assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill such as: keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeyman. The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas and in others, the worker is permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full-time basis. Tasking examples could include changing light bulbs/light ballasts, hanging white boards/coat racks/shelving, set-ups for special events, snow removal, pictures hung, painting, installing missing or damaged ceiling tiles, installing missing damaged floor/carpet tiles, lending assistance to the skilled trade technicians in support of their tasking, moving furniture, fire extinguisher inspections/replacement, emergency shower inspections, escorting other (internal to 711 HPW or external to 711 HPW) support groups, door guards in the event of security concerns, installing computer keyboard trays, installation of compressed gas cylinder mounting brackets, decommission of gas cylinders.
                         
Education, licenses, and training requirements are as follows:
  1. High School Graduate.
  2. 2 years of working experience is required.
  3. Technical certifications and advanced training is beneficial.
  4. Computer Skills: Working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software required.
