Job Description
Job Description for CAD Operator/Designer is as follows:

Primary Duties: The CAD draftsperson performs drafting work manually or using a computer, requiring knowledge and skill in drafting methods, procedures, and techniques, prepares drawings of structures, facilities, land profiles, water systems, mechanical and electrical equipment, pipelines, duct systems, and similar equipment, systems, and assemblies. Drawings are used to communicate engineering ideas, design, and information. This draftsperson uses national CAD standards, which include recognized systems of symbols, legends, shadings, and lines having specific meanings in drawings. The CAD draftsperson should have working knowledge of and be proficient in AutoCAD, which is the software that 711 HPW uses. The draftsperson shall develop “As-Built” drawings for existing conditions and/or after projects performed by the Contractor or other contractors. The operator shall primarily develop basic floorplan and/or furniture layouts to facilitate personnel moves, office/lab re-configurations, furniture procurement, and supervisor decisions of layouts.

Secondary Duties:  During lulls in CAD work the following duties can be performed: Assists one or more workers in the skilled maintenance trades by performing specific or general duties of lesser skill such as: keeping a worker supplied with materials and tools, cleaning working area, machine, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeyman. The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas. Tasking examples could include changing light bulbs/light ballasts, hanging white boards/coat racks/shelving, set-ups for special events, snow removal, pictures hung, painting, installing missing or damaged ceiling tiles, installing missing damaged floor/carpet tiles, moving furniture.

Education, licenses, and training requirements are as follows:
  1. High School Graduate.
  2. Working experience is required.
  3. Technical certifications and advanced training is beneficial.
  4. Computer Skills: Working knowledge with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint software required.
