This is a requisition for summer of 2023 intern positions with involvement in the design, integration, and test of space systems.

Maxar is currently seeking engineering students to join our 2023 summer intern program in Palo Alto or San Jose. BUS Electronics Design (BED) designs and develops new electronics units supporting the spacecraft BUS which in turn supports the spacecraft payload. Roles includes design engineering, product engineering, and test engineering. All roles involve significant collaboration with interdisciplinary teams from multiple subsystems.

BED (BUS Electronics Design) engineering interns are needed in the following areas:

  • Design engineering (Power and Avionics circuits)
  • Design analysis (Power and Avionics circuits)
  • Product engineering
  • Test engineering (Power and Avionics circuits)
  • Manufacturing engineering support
  • EMI/EMC engineering

Placement of individual interns within each of these software roles will be based on intern's background, intern's areas of interest and Maxar need.

What Our Internship Program Offers:

Our 12-to-13 week internship program provides students with hands-on experience in a variety of disciplines. From robotics to data science, Maxar offers opportunities to gain valuable skills and mentorship by working with cutting-edge technologies and industry-leading experts on real missions. In addition to competitive hourly pay, we provide cross-functional lunch-and-learn sessions, professional development workshops, social events and an executive speaker series. Currently, our 2023 internship program is set to be on-site and in-office.

Minimum requirements for this position:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program with completion of 2 years or more, or currently enrolled in a master's degree program in computer, electrical, mechanical or aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, or related discipline

These skills would be amazing:

  • Ability to learn quickly and multi-task in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and leadership skills
  • Experience with embedded engineering (i.e. microcontrollers and firmware)
  • Familiarity with the Python programming language
  • Familiarity with Altium or Cadence design tools suite

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate's unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$15.10 - $25.16 hourly.
