Job Description
The Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, recommends or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions. This technician performs at this level one or a combination of such typical duties as:
  • Troubleshooting and correcting malfunctions on real property and equipment. Responds to emergency service calls at various times of the day to trouble shoot the best possible solution in order to impact the core mission as little as possible.
  • Performs scheduled, preventive and routine maintenance on equipment according to regulations set in manufactures manual. Example of this type of work would be adjusting belts, changing worn-out components, oil, filter(s), and gaskets. Performs cleaning as needed to ensure professional appearance and longevity of the system(s) and its components.
  • Provides various types of maintenance (i.e. Routine maintenance, Priority maintenance, Emergency maintenance, Ancillary Repair and Alteration).
  • Follows schematics, layout instructions or technical diagrams to construct, package or assemble simple devices, tools, equipment or subunits of equipment.
  • Supports TSR (telephone service request) technicians involving answering questions, building/room access, technical/labor support that is often required resulting from the telephone submittal process. One of many examples would be the task of moving furniture to give a TSR technician access to certain telephone hardware. The contractor shall be responsible to follow AFRL/RQ policy with respect to the telephone submittal process. The contractor shall be responsible to prepare, submit, and perform follow-up actions and maintain copies of required DMATS-D Form 1070s, DMATS-Dayton Communications Service Requirement. TSR requires all work orders be submitted electronically channeled through a secured web based page which the government will provide. The contractor shall maintain a record of all telephone work order submittals throughout this contract, which may be reviewed by the government at any time.
  • Operates various types of vehicles and equipment to include pick-up trucks, forklifts and single person man lifts.
  • Modifies facility space layouts. This includes installing, relocating or assembling modular furniture, white boards, desks and cabinets.
  • Provides security and delivery at shipping and receiving duties in reserve capacity, including loading and unloading trucks with the fork lift.
  • Assists and oversees the required maintenance in the laboratories and offices in the complex.  This includes a multitude of skill sets.
  • Performs minor facilities work including installation and removal of carpet, drop ceilings, light bulbs, paint, hanging/removing wall fixtures, cabinets, laboratory work surfaces, cove base and other similar facilities type work.
