Job Description
The Engineering Technician V – Electronics Tech is responsible for performing assembly and providing technical support for the manufacture of components, assembly and test of company products. Additionally, this function will communicate daily metrics including safety, quality, delivery, costs and area performance and works closely with the manufacturing supervisor. This position requires flexibility to support all manufacturing, assembly and testing functions.

Essential Functions
  • This is the primary value-added position in the product development operation.
  • Responsible for not only learning work instructions and processes for all assembly and technical requirements, but may have input to the development of related documents.
  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments involving planning and conducting a complete project of relatively limited scope or a portion of a larger and more diverse project.
  • Will be involved with component manufacturing, system assembly, system integration, system testing and other tasks as needed.
  • Will be responsible for following all company safety policies and regulations.

Education and Experience:
  • Must have electronic engineer certification or military equivalent with 15 years’ experience.
  • An associate degree in electronic engineering technology is preferred.
  • Hands on experience using electronic test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer and Digital Multimeter for voltage, current, resistance, frequency and Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) readings.
  • Can demonstrate ground and insulation resistance testing using Hi-Potential, Megger, and Milliohm test equipment.
  • Experienced and able to use hand tools, specialized crimpers and small power tools.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Has demonstrated that Safety is his/her number one operating priority.
  • Understands basic electronic theory, including series/parallel circuits involving resistors, capacitors, inductors and perform basic calculations (e.g. application of Ohm’s Law).
  • Ability to read and understand all work instructions and safety information.
  • Must be well organized and able to multi-task.
  • Thorough understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) communications.
  • Basic understanding of antenna design.
  • Establishes circuit-layout using mathematical calculations, electronic circuit theory, and basic engineering principles.
  • Ability to soldering and de-soldering surface mount and through-hole soldering components to a printed circuit board.
  • Ability to perform trouble-shooting to the component level.
  • Troubleshoots, modifies, and adjusts experimental circuitry prototypes, solving practical and technical problems.
  • Evaluates the form, fit, and function of components and equipment for adherence to project objectives.
  • Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced technicians, and may have supervisory responsibilities.
  • Ability to read and understand schematics.
  • Inspects all work before passing on to the next operations.
  • Basic computer skills such as: Microsoft Office-Suite and ability to learn basic systems for daily production data input a plus.
  • Demonstrated skills and proactive actions in previous assignments, team building skills, strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work as part of a high powered manufacturing team.

This job operates in an office and manufacturing environment. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; bend; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted.
