The Software Engineer develops and designs Software tools that support the planning, design, fabrication, modification, overhaul, repair, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory, aircraft, experimental, test, flight-test, instrumentation, special devices, computer, controller, and data processing equipment utilized by this organization. Additional support is provided to configure, connect, and program the various test systems for control and data collection, in both a laboratory and flight-test (aircraft) environment. Services also provide to reduce data and present the results in a reporting format; and to support aircraft flight test missions, both in the air and at ground base stations.
Essential Functions
Develop software utilized on SATCOM systems for Air Force personnel and SATCOM engineers.
Development of Viper Monitor v2 software. Application accepts HSD 400 terminal data, interprets data, and creates a visual display for Inmarsat operations. HSD 400 is collected and stored for future analysis.
Development of Router Monitor v2 software. Application controls Steel Eagle and Viper Cisco routers to provide user the ability turn on and off various Inmarsat services, including secure network connectivity.
Maintain INMARSAT network connections to secure DOD locations include JB Andrews, McChord, and Scott AFB. Networks are established over various INMARSAT links including Swift64 and Swift Broadband.
Develop new DOD secure networks connections, and commercial internet, over future high speed satellite links.
Installation, configuration, testing and repair of SATCOM and RORO support equipment.
Provide training to Air Force personnel on SATCOM theory and RORO support operations.
Provide troubleshooting support on SATCOM terminals and associated RORO support equipment.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.
Ten (10) years related experience required.
Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) is a plus, but not required
Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing & Switching (CCNA) is a plus, but not required
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen
Must be able to qualify for a Secret Security Clearance
Approximately 20% travel is required: CONUS and OCONUS
