The Design Engineer is responsible for design and detailing components and systems for use in custom build products, standard product lines, and internal and external cables. This position requires the knowledge of Mechanical design practices, and drawing standards, design for manufacturability, GD&T, and utilization of Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design software.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reports to the Engineering Manager on a regular basis.
Works closely with Project Managers, engineering & design team, and manufacturing.
Mechanical solid model design, drawings, bill of materials (BOM) and documentation control.
Applies technical knowledge in the development of new Autodesk Inventory models and drawings.
Starts and completes Engineering Changes (EC’s) following all configuration management guidelines.
Works closely with selected technical leads at our Springfield facility.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Due to Federal Contracting requirements, applicant must be a US Citizen.
Associate degree in a mechanical discipline (ME, MET) or proven equivalent design experience.
Knowledge of basic materials properties, and hardware.
Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD design software. Solidworks experience is a plus.
Create drawings, adhering to ASME, and SelectTech standards.
Knowledge and competency in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
Ability to document the design process fully and accurately from start to finish.
Familiarity with ISO 9001/AS 9100.
Ability to work independently as well as take direction and collaborate with others.
The ability to complete assigned tasks and work on multiple projects simultaneously
