The Electrical Engineering Technician is responsible for understanding electrical plans, suggesting design alterations and carrying out assigned electrical technical dutiesdirect support of contracts. This technician must be able to create wiring harnesses from wiring diagrams, able to interface the harnesses with other avionic/aircraft/electrical systems. From time to time, this position may be asked to work in similar areas such as structural build, signals distribution and other functions. Operational priorities will be safety, quality, delivery and cost. This position will work with a team of highly skilled aircraft electricians to terminate Mil-spec (Military Specifications) connectors and follow all Mil-spec installation of components in various projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Plans layout, installs, and repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment, such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools
Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
Performs the installation and functionally testing of electrical components and systems on per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect free system
Demonstrates effective build and repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, soldering and pinning of wiring
Performs and complies with engineering changes and modifications as required
Sets up and operates necessary test equipment. Conducts functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
Ensures that all work performed is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection
Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring
Electrical assembly and wire harness construction and installation
Checks, tests, and troubleshoots electrical systems for conformance to specifications and performs repair, removal, and reinstallation of wiring as necessary
Attaches wire or complicated electrical systems to fixtures and accessories such as: transformers, instrument panels, and switchboards with fasteners (bolts, screws, or solder)
Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threaded, and conduit bender
Connect wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment, using hand tools
Connect power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads
Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and other related instruments
Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
May repair faulty equipment or systems
Able to translate block diagrams to schematics as well as build prototypes to confirm circuitry
Demonstrates technical expertise by implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising safety or quality
Demonstrate safe working practices

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma
2 years of Mechanical/Electrical experience
Mil- Spec electrical experience preferred but not required
Aircraft maintenance background preferred not required
Mechanically inclined with ability to use hand and automated tools
Database maintenance with Excel preferred not required
Ability to read/understand computer generated prints
Knowledge of Mil-Spec components preferred not required
