MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a positive attitude and appearance while greeting guests.
  • Offer upsell/suggestions during all transactions with guests to help create the best possible visit.
  • Maintain knowledge of activities, aquatic life, and Newport Aquarium special events/promotions in order to properly notify and inform guests.
  • Maintain appropriate guest and team relations, ensuring guest and team satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills by handling comments, concerns, and suggestions from guests regarding the overall guest experience via phone, email, and/or in person.
  • Must demonstrate strong record keeping skills.
  • Learn and maintain knowledge of ticketing system staying up to date on changes like ticket types and promotions.
  • Responsible for maintaining Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance, in addition to, proper cash handling procedures.
  • Must be self-motivated and work independently, as well as disciplined and reliable.
  • Perform and adhere to, Herschend Family Entertainment Core Values and Newport Aquarium Guest Services Standards, Policies and Procedures, and Safety Protocols to ensure safe and efficient guest services operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Guest Services Leadership Team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have strong public speaking skills and the ability to read, write and speak the English language (knowledge of other languages is a plus)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be able to think clearly, and react quickly to changes and/or emergency situations
  • Previous customer service or retail experience preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Knowledge of marine life is a plus

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of pre-employment background check
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time, ascend and descend floors, bend, stoop, and reach
  • Physical strength, including the ability to lift up to 25 pounds
