ATI is currently seeking a Die Design to join our facility located in Cudahy, WI. A successful Die Designer prepares tool design and layouts of tools, dies, machinery and equipment related to the chip-less forming of metals. Reviews and investigates questionable items regarding tools, dies, machinery and equipment. Defines process, forge and heat treat dimensions, and, as appropriate, sonic and ship drawings. Works under general supervision.

  • Makes design layouts involving stress analysis, metallurgical characteristics and mechanics.
  • Work involves knowledge of strength of material, fabrication difficulties, physics, dynamics, mathematics and other physical sciences.
  • Determines application of tools and the material to be processed.
  • Generates product drawings.
  • Makes drawings of single parts or assembled tools and equipment.
  • Prepares bills of material, specification sheets, sketches and any other technical work necessary to complete tool designs and assignments.
  • Studies and reviews assigned projects and investigates questionable items concerning machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Recommends redesign, repair or rebuilding to overcome difficulties or meet requirements.
  • Confers with other designers, drafters, engineers and representatives of other departments on matters involving design, material, and construction of tools, machines and equipment.
  • Makes mathematical computations and calculations. Ensures accuracy and functional correctness of tools and equipment.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence concerning tool design, machine functions and miscellaneous assignments.
  • May assign, check and instruct work of other designers and drafters.
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities.
  • May generate digital dimensional reference points to assist in equipment programming or for computer modeling input.
  • May generate tool paths for template layout and/or machining.


Basic Qualifications:

  • 2+ years manufacturing, forging or machining experience
  • 1+ years of CAD experience
  • GED/Diploma

Preferred:

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
