Position Overview

Manage the Maintenance Department employees and equipment to maximize plant production at the lowest cost, the highest quality, and within optimum safety standards. Responsible for creating overall department strategy to ensure equipment uptime, managing the department budget, and developing a strong team.

Responsibilities
    Lead and manage department with a safety-first focus.
  • Develop / maintain a motivated and well-trained maintenance team.
  • Develop, lead, schedule, and maintain Preventative Maintenance Program.
  • Identify and implement cost reductions.
  • Maintain accurate equipment maintenance records.
  • Implement maintenance program that optimizes capital equipment life.
  • Manages inventory stores to minimize parts on hand while ensuring critical spare parts are stocked.
  • Work with Production Manager to develop departments annual budget.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain written maintenance policies and procedures.
  • Develop/Utilize the I-Maint system tool for planning, tracking, prioritizing, etc. department activities and manage the backlog in the system.
  • Plans, schedules, and monitors the timely completion of maintenance work orders.
  • Responsible for Root Cause Analysis/Corrective Action of unplanned breakdowns.
  • Create an effective Plant Maintenance Program using industry best practices to maximize equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Lead and direct Maintenance Clerk to locate O.E.M. manufacturers and after-market distributors to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service.
  • Contact and work with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results.
  • Monitor warranties and service guarantees. Notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
  • Develop and implement the short- and long-term maintenance strategy to enable operating efficiency in alignment with company values.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including union contract, safety program, environmental initiatives, and good housekeeping.
  • Report to Production Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known, while providing technical expertise regarding plant equipment and facilities.
  • Interface with Production Team and provides a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the plant management, supervisory staff, and hourly employees.
Qualifications
  • Strong Communication skills with ability to adjust communication style and interact across all levels of the organization.
  • Must possess leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise staff and develop talent to create a highly productive, safety-conscious team.
  • Ability to lead multiple operation initiatives, including training, development, and operational standardization.
  • Knowledge of methods, accepted practices, considerations, and regulatory requirements associated with safety and protection of the employees, environment, and site.
  • Knowledge of the electrical, mechanical and logistics equipment used in manufacturing, including its safe usage, maintenance, and storage.
  • Be a strategic thinker with the confidence to make decisions which impact safety, uptime, and productivity.
  • Safety sensitive position - ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner.
  • Adept at problem-solving and identifying root cause to implement preventative methods.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 plant operations facility.

EXPERIENCE:

Industry/Equipment: Ten or more years of experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity preferred.

Management: Eight or more years of leadership experience in a manufacturing plant.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Proficient in MS Office and overall PC usage. Utilize I-Maint software system.
