Software Manager Team Lead - Connected Vehicle, ML, Cloud

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

Gentherm recently launched WellSense, a software-defined consumer experience product that promotes health and well-being in vehicles.

We are seeking a hands-on software team lead to oversee cross-functional engineering talent and bring innovative concepts to market launch. The product includes thermal and pneumatic hardware, software algorithms with cloud connectivity and embedded software components, advanced sensing, and data-driven ML/AI applications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop innovative prototypes towards production-ready HW & SW Platforms.
  • Manage a cross-functional engineering team in building prototypes and mock-ups to test and iterate on product features and functionalities that can be seamlessly integrated into OEM vehicle systems, mobile applications, and the Cloud.
  • Provide technical vision that enables different engineering functions to bring multiple and complex requirements into modern automotive software architecture and solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers, stakeholders, and engineering teams to translate concepts and scientific data into end-to-end product solutions for WellSense.
  • Deliver new and validated SW & HW platforms for customer-awarded programs, including SW architecture and system design.
  • Use AGILE when fitting, conduct stand-ups, remove roadblocks, and assist with project backlog.
  • Align across disciplines to communicate project status on an ongoing basis, execute project timing, and identify any associated risks.
  • Participate in customer strategy meetings, pre-development customer requirements, and customer presentations.
  • Lead important strategic customer advanced development projects with control algorithms and software.
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years in a software leadership role.
  • Desire to be hands on technically, in addition to leadership responsibilities.
  • Experience with automotive vehicle systems, mobile applications, machine learning/AI applications, and cloud connectivity.
  • Experience combining physical and digital assets into modern software automotive solutions.
  • Experience with Software/API integration of network technologies such as CAN, LIN.
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Mathematics, Physics, Automotive, or related field.
  • Excellent technical project management skills.
  • Responsibility driving systems requirements, functional objectives, and validation methods and tools.
  • Deep understanding of future trends in connected vehicle architecture including current networks and future direction (e.g., domain-based control).
  • Demonstrated ability to be creative and resourceful (e.g., sourcing external partners, and collaborating with customers to solve new problems).
  • Proven experience of bringing innovative ideas into a sellable product
  • Demonstrated rapid prototype approach to new product development.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with AGILE-style product development.
  • Successful production launch of ASPICE/ISO26262 project
