Senior Quality Manager - US - Dayton, OH

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

Apex Tool Group is currently looking for a Senior Quality Manager to support our facility in Dayton, OH. This Manager will lead the efforts to implement integrated systems for managing quality processes. This includes human work factors, logistics, material flow and production data to identify trends and areas requiring quality improvement. This position will provide consultation on complex projects and is a top-level contributor/specialist regarding quality.

The Manager, Quality will report directly to the Director, Operations and will work closely with a cross-functional Operations Management team and will manage the Quality department.

The Build (Responsibilities)

* Maintain quality system certifications (AS9100, ISO9001, NADCAP) through successful completion of external and internal audits

* Work with Operations, Purchasing and Engineering to reduce rejection rates through root cause analysis and countermeasure solutions to quality issues

* Determine and enforce quality requirements in accordance with customer and internal needs

* Drive Quality Assurance Program to Aerospace industry standards

* Uses lean tools (standard work, visual management, etc.) and advanced quality concepts (such as FMEA, DMAIC, DEMEDI, APQP, PPAP, etc.) to continuously improve the quality of product and reduce cost of poor quality

* Act as liaison with external parties on matters relating to the quality system or quality issues

* Evaluate and develop improved techniques for the control of quality and reliability

* Demonstrate "world class" competencies in multiple facets of quality management, including but not limited to process and technique analysis, creation and implementation.

* Assist in the layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to ensure safety and quality objectives are being met. Lead corrective actions when KPI's do not meet established scores.

* Develop, train, direct, coach, evaluate, and lead quality engineers, technicians, and auditors.

* Review engineering specifications and related information to obtain knowledge regarding manufacturing methods and procedures

* Monitor supplier performance.


The Toolbox (Qualifications)

* BS in an Engineering discipline or related discipline, plus 5 years or more experience in quality.

* 7-10 years of experience in manufacturing engineering preferred.

* 7-10 years of experience in coaching, teaching and leading technical personnel and complex activities.

* Aerospace OEM / Tier 1 experience is preferred (Boeing, UTAS, Triumph, Moog, etc.)

* AS9100 and NADCAP experience is preferred

* Six Sigma Certification and/or Training is preferred

* ASQ Certifications a plus (CQE, CMQ/OE, etc.)

* Project management skills and experience.

* Involved in system-wide organizational change and development initiatives.

* Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine cost of quality and continuous improvement initiatives

* Solid problem solving (analytical) skills

* Intermediate to advanced experience level with MS Office applications required

* Experience in lean manufacturing technique and concepts

* Experience with Aerospace requirements and working with Aerospace customers.
