ATI is seeking a Quality Sampling Technician to join our Millersburg, Oregon team. The Sample Tech will support a 24/7 operation and may have some off shift responsibilities up to and including working swing, graveyard or weekend shift. The Quality Sampling Technician reports directly to the Quality Sr. Leader and is responsible for collecting and submitting samples for a variety of products and incoming materials and performing other Quality related duties throughout the Millersburg facility. This is a very physically demanding role, and you will be required to perform a variety of repetitive physical motions, lift items up to 50lbs, and use a variety of industrial tools including drills, chisel guns, lathes, forklifts, and cranes.

In order to be successful and provide immediate impact, you will have to quickly learn and understand ATI's materials and sampling processes, and work with cross-functional teams including the Operations and the Laboratory to problem solve and keep material moving through the facility. The Quality Sampling Technician will need to be a clear communicator, have the ability to work with diverse personalities, be confident and comfortable having difficult conversations related to Quality oversight activities, and have the motivation and drive to working independently with minimal direct supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate various machining, sampling, or industrial equipment such as drills, air chisels, lathes, and cranes.
  • Enter samples electronically into ATI's Oracle system and deliver physically to the onsite laboratory for chemical analysis.
  • Perform hardness tests on ingots and other products as necessary.
  • Perform Quality overcheck inspections on production cleanups of equipment such as saws, crushers, furnaces, tanks, and lathes per equipment clean-up/change-over requirements.
  • Work in glove tanks to process, inspect, and sample production material.
  • Review and complete a variety of production documents in support of final product certification.
  • Provide vacation coverage and backup support for Quality employees in other departments within the facility.
  • Train and develop skills to potentially move to other critical roles within the organization as a part of ATI's long term succession planning process.


Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Preferences

  • A minimum of an Associate's degree, preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DOE) Security Clearance.
    • Candidates must be willing and able to provide information necessary to verify eligibility and receive authorization to access Controlled Unclassified Information related to U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. Department of Energy programs. Verification and authorization may be required from (1) the U.S. Government, (2) the security organizations of ATI's customers in the U.S. Government's defense and national security supply chains, or (3) ATI's Law Department. Additional Skills and/or Experience

  • Sampling, inspecting, or testing methods and tools which could include splitters, tapes, weigh scales, temperature measurement equipment, etc.
  • Skills related to MIG or TIG welding and other hot work processes such as annealing, quenching, hot rolling, or extruding.
  • Experience or training in NDT processes such as radiography, ultrasonic testing, dye penetration testing, etc.
  • Knowledge of Quality standards such as AS9100 or ISO9001 and their implementation within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite and database applications.
  • Understanding and applying written technical information and operational instructions.
  • The ability to pass company vision test requirements, perform basic arithmetic computations and work in an expeditious and highly accurate manner.
