Overview

Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator provide hands-on support for standalone and networked information systems. Mission Integration is responsible for conducting mission engineering, analysis, and integration activities to produce objective insights and analytic justification to inform future technology and capability development. This position will be in Dayton, OH at Wright-Patterson AFB.

Responsibilities

As a Systems Administrator with MTSI you will provide hands-on support for standalone and networked information systems. This position will be in Dayton, OH at Wright-Patterson AFB.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Plan, coordinate and install applications software and hardware for multiple classified networked and stand-alone systems
  • Develop, review and modify changes to schedule of operations for successful day to day operations in a classified environment
  • Design data products, processes, or programs that enhance functional area management and provide for increased organization optimization of Information Technology (IT) processes. This includes documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Develop/update standard procedures for account establishment, system maintenance and systems recovery
  • Develop proposals to enhance operational use of systems hardware and software and keeps abreast of technological advances to ensure continued optimum service
  • Maintain awareness of mission-specific IT policies, guidelines, and best practices
  • Manage media necessary for proper maintenance and operation of mission-specific systems
  • Support ISSO with review/feedback of security documentation including Systems Security Plans (SSP), Information Assurance Standard Operating Procedures (IA SOP), Continuous Monitoring Plans, Security Control Traceability Matrices, Risk Assessments, Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M), equipment specifications, practices and procedures
  • Work with the ISSO to maintain and update all system, user, and related formal IT documentation to maintain accreditation and ability to operate approved systems
  • Assist ISSO with Information Systems Security Plan documentation
  • Provide end user support for application troubleshooting including PKIs and general IT issues
  • Provide proactive consultation and instruction with system users to ensure seamless implementation of changes
  • Optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems to ensure availability, integrity, efficiency and reliability of drives, servers, switches, related hardware and software.
  • Identify system problems that are of an unusual or complex nature and develops corrective action
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of applications software and the establishment of user environments
  • Troubleshoot and analyze unusual or complex hardware and software malfunctions to resolve physical and logical processing problems and recommends acquisition of equipment, software, and or hardware which will resolve operational problems.
  • Continually survey system operation to identify and anticipate potential problems which could lead to loss of serious interruption or compromise of system availability
  • Identify corrective or preventative procedures and takes actions to rectify immediate problems and prevent future occurrences
  • Apply innovative techniques and seasoned judgement to assist management in identifying areas where IT systems can reduce or eliminate labor and time intensive manual processes
  • Analyze and diagnose system failures and isolate source of problems. Perform testing, troubleshooting and correct complex or unusual problems involving interface and interoperability of system components such as hardware systems, software and applications programs
  • Manage installation of system patches and enhancements/updates and ensures system integrity is not compromised
  • Ensure maintenance and upgrade procedures are established in such a way as to minimize disruption to normal business functions of organization within the installation. This could include ensuring scheduled backups and the application of upgrades or system patches will have minimum impact
  • Interface with external IT helpdesks to remedy user and system-specific issues
  • Perform data transfer agent (DTA) actions to support operational mission requirements

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Information Technology with a heavy emphasis on systems administration.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have experience in SCIF and SAPF environments.
  • Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Windows OS (client and server).
  • Candidates must possess and demonstrate proven communication skills - written and verbal

Desired Requirements:

  • CompTIA A+ and Networks+ certifications.
  • Familiarity with Linux is desired.
  • PL3/PL4 Systems Experience
  • COMSEC
  • Version control software (subversion, git)
  • SIMS software and inventory management equipment

Education Requirements:

  • Associates Degree in a relevant IT field.

Certifications Requirements:

  • CompTIA Security+

Clearance Requirements:

  • TS clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
