POSITION SUMMARY:
The Social Work Intern will work under the general supervision of the department director or manager. They will be responsible for conducting evaluations related to substance use, mental illness, social determinants of health, and other complex needs. The intern will work with a multidisciplinary team and make appropriate referrals based on the evaluation and patient needs. These referrals may include food pantries, primary care, women's health programs, short-term and long-term substance use treatment programs, and more. The intern will collaborate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
- Provides a wide variety of administrative and general support duties in assigned areas.
- Performs departmental and divisional related tasks as defined by director or manager.
- Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Conducts evaluations for substance use, mental illness, social determinates of health, women's health, and other complex needs.
- Performs screenings in the Emergency Department and in other BMC programs.
- Makes appropriate referrals based on the evaluation/patient needs (food pantries, primary care, women's health programs, short and long-term substance use treatment programs, etc.). Completes documentation and treatment plans in epic.
- Participates in meetings, individual and group supervision as necessary.
- Conforms to hospital standards of performance and conduct, including those pertaining to patient rights, so that the best possible customer service and patient care may be provided
- Must adhere to all of BMC's RESPECT behavioral standards.
- Must adheres to the NASW code of ethics.

Student enrolled in a social work graduate or undergraduate degree program
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor or Masters Level Social Work Student
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA):
- Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize duties
- Ability to work independently
- Must possess excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Must have an interest in performing new and varied work assignments, and be flexible with regard to work assignments
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word is preferred. Knowledge
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality
