SKF Specialty Balls Colebrook, manufactures precision bearing balls for Aerospace and Automotive industries. SKF Specialty Balls works closely with customers to develop customer solutions for their applications. This SKF Site is located in Winsted, CT.


Responsibilities:

  • Direct supervision of all assigned inspectors/operators.
  • Ensure validity of assigned employees certifications, qualifications, and other required company training.
  • Field personnel issues, including attendance, vacations, training, business ethics, and performance.
  • Assist in oversight of off-shift non-Quality operations.
  • Close supervision of all shifts of all assigned producing operations, including work scheduling and monitoring through-put.
  • Provide updates at Production Meetings concerning status of all tracked lots.
  • Monitor earned hours and on-time-delivery commitments.
  • Champion a team approach to productivity within and between departments.
  • Ensure compliance to all SKF procedures and work instructions.
  • Expedite DR dispositions and other production roadblocks with urgency.
  • Recommend preventative and corrective actions for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor Process Control Charts for trends.
  • Provide continuous communications feedback to manufacturing to assure best flow of correct product between departments.
  • Assist in product inspection, machine operation, set-up, and calibration of instruments.
  • Ensure maintenance of Clean Room certifications.
  • Maintain cleanliness, housekeeping and safety in all assigned areas.
  • Collect/Compile data and drive continuous improvement initiatives in reaction to escapes, trends, and in support of reduced cost and lead-time through utilization of PPAPs, APQP, Lean Six Sigma tools, 8D methodologies, and 5S as they relate to supplier and internal manufacturing.
  • Perform statistical analysis, monitor supplier and SKF quality performance.
  • Support of the QMS, not limited to applying problem solving to promote continuous improvement, perform internal audits as assigned, perform capability studies, perform MSA and product certifications of conformance.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times, alerting management of hazardous conditions.
  • Enssure satisfactory levels of cleanliness and housekeeping in all assigned areas.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and organizational skills.
  • Ensure confidentiality of proprietary or sensitive information.
  • Provide a continuous, positive influence in order to meet or exceed Company Quality Policies, Strategic Goals, Visions and Values

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or Manufacturing Technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing or quality experience.
  • Knowledge of AS9100, ISO9001 and Nadcap.
  • Problem Solving.
  • Project Management.
